Discontinuation of a Block Explorer

Etherscan's Explorer as a Service (EaaS) provides blockchains with a complete, fully-hosted and fully-managed block explorer & API solution. It allows users to easily navigate and analyze data on blockchain networks.

While we strive to provide as much of our services to the community as we can, there may be times when a particular EaaS explorer cannot be continued. If this were to happen, as a user you do not need to be troubled about the safety of your wallet or the security of the blockchain. The explorer is discontinued but the blockchain will function as normal.

What Do I Need to Do?

As Etherscan prepares to sunset an EaaS service, there are steps that you as a user can take to ensure a smooth transition to alternative services or tools.

If you have added certain information on the block explorer, we recommend saving backups. This information includes:

  • Addresses in Watch List
  • Private Name Tags
  • Private Transaction Notes
  • Tokens in Token Ignore List
  • Custom ABIs
  • Contract verification details

You should complete these steps before the specified deactivation date of the affected block explorer.

Why Might a Block Explorer be Discontinued?

The decision to discontinue a block explorer may be due to a combination of factors. These include but are not limited to:

  • Expiry or non renewal of an EaaS service agreement
  • Limited traffic
  • Insufficient team bandwidth

We apologize for any inconveniences caused and appreciate your understanding. If you have any questions about specific block explorers, please feel free to contact us.
