Ethereum took one step closer to the Merge between the current execution chain and the Beacon consensus chain with a hard fork named Altair on October 27th. The community celebrated this occasion with a paint party on POAP. On the same day, Ethereum achieved another milestone, experiencing its first day of deflationary supply. All this while ETH keeps breaking into new All Time High prices!

At Etherscan, we've gradually built out support for ERC-1155 tokens and are actively adding more support for NFTs as a whole. In addition, we added Custom Error messages, a feature long-awaited for by developers in the community.

Our analysis and quiz in this issue covers the topic of Ethereum's Merge. By answering the quiz you stand a chance to win $10 in ETH!

FAQ

Questions received last month:

How is Ether supply calculated in the Supply Growth chart?
It is calculated by adding up block rewards, uncle and uncle inclusion rewards, Beacon/Eth2 staking rewards and deducting burnt fees. Hover over the chart to see daily details.

What does the "Interacted With (To)" field in Transaction page mean?
When a transaction executes a smart contract function that transfers tokens, Etherscan highlights this by changing the "To" field into "Interacted With (To)". A user who simply sent tokens to a contract will not see this field.
