Solscan provides OHLCV candlestick charts for Solana tokens, liquidity pool (LP) pairs, and markets. Available on Token Details and Market Details pages, these charts display price movements and trading volume across multiple timeframes.

This article explains what an OHLCV chart is, how to read it, and where to find OHLCV Price Charts on Solscan.

What Is an OHLCV Chart?

An OHLCV chart is a candlestick chart that presents five types of market data for a selected period:

  • Open: The price at the beginning of the period
  • High: The highest price recorded during the period
  • Low: The lowest price recorded during the period
  • Close: The price at the end of the period
  • Volume: The trading volume recorded during the period

Each candlestick represents the open, high, low, and close prices within a specific time interval. Trading volume is displayed separately below the price chart.

How to Read an OHLCV Candlestick Chart

Each candlestick consists of a body and upper and lower wicks.

  • A green candlestick indicates that the closing price was higher than the opening price.
  • A red candlestick indicates that the closing price was lower than the opening price.
  • The body represents the range between the opening and closing prices.
  • The upper wick shows the highest price recorded during the interval.
  • The lower wick shows the lowest price recorded during the interval.
  • The volume bars below the chart show the amount traded during each interval.

Users can switch between the available timeframes to view price movements at different levels of detail. For example, when the one-minute timeframe is selected, each candlestick represents one minute of market activity.

How to View OHLCV Charts on Solscan

Solscan’s OHLCV Price Chart displays price and trading volume data alongside other on-chain token and market information.

The chart allows users to:

  • View open, high, low, and close prices
  • Review trading volume for each interval
  • Switch between multiple timeframes
  • Examine token or trading-pair price movements directly on Solscan

OHLCV charts are available in two locations: Token Details pages and Market Details pages.

On a Token Details page, the OHLCV Price Chart appears below the token’s overview information.

The chart presents the token’s price movements across multiple timeframes. When available, related market metrics such as 24-hour volume and liquidity are also displayed on the page.

To find the chart:

  1. Search for a token by its name, symbol, or token address on Solscan.
  2. Open the corresponding Token Details page.
  3. Locate the OHLCV Price Chart below the Token Overview.

The OHLCV Price Chart supports all Solana tokens, including low-score tokens. The market metrics displayed may vary depending on data availability.

OHLCV Charts on Market Details Pages

OHLCV charts are also available on Market Details pages for LP pairs and markets across Solana.

Depending on the selected market, users can view price data based on either:

  • Quote token: Displays the asset’s price relative to the pair’s quote token for pair-specific analysis.
  • USD value: Displays the pair’s price in US dollars.

To find the chart, users can access a Market Details page in two ways:

Search by market address

  1. Paste the market address into the Solscan search bar.
  2. Open the corresponding Market Details page.
  3. Locate the OHLCV Price Chart on the page.

Search through a token pair

  1. Search for one of the tokens in the pair by its name, symbol, or token address.
  2. Open the token’s Token Details page and navigate to the Markets tab.
  3. Use the Pair column filter to search for the other token in the pair.
  4. Select the relevant market address to open its Market Details page.
  5. Locate the OHLCV Price Chart on the page.

For example, to find the PENGU/USDC market, open the PENGU Token Details page, navigate to Markets, and filter the Pair column for USDC.

OHLCV Data for Low-Score Tokens

OHLCV charts are supported on Token Details pages for low-score tokens.

However, 24-hour volume and liquidity metrics are not displayed for these tokens. These metrics are excluded to reflect the market data available for the token, while the available OHLCV chart data remains accessible.

The OHLCV Price Chart supports all Solana tokens on Token Details pages, including low-score tokens. OHLCV charts are also available for LP pairs and markets on Market Details pages.

USD mode displays the market price in US dollars. Quote-token mode displays the asset’s price relative to the quote token in a specific trading pair.

For example, a SOL/USDC market can display SOL’s value in US dollars or relative to USDC as the pair’s quote token.
